There are a million different reasons why writers write…why they take the time to put down words. Some are so outspoken in character that they can’t seem to say enough. They want to immortalize their thoughts on paper, on screens, on the minds of anyone who will care to read them. They want to continue the conversation always; to put pen to paper in hopes of eliciting a response, comment, or reaction. They dream of controversy, of debate, of something that causes them to reconsider their original notions and engage in this complete open discussion of thoughts. They live to overthink.
Others, well, they feel this incessant need to write down their thoughts to stop overthinking. They see words as an escape; putting pen to paper or tapping on keys gets everything out. They write, because they’re often afraid to speak. Their words are often their innermost thoughts, and their shy characters keep them from exposing their thoughts out loud. So they write. They write to escape the immediate interaction. They write to craft the perfect argument. They write to see… if they have something worth saying.
